What will I learn in ASIST?

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a suicide first-aid intervention model for anyone who wants to learn life-saving skills. It can be incorporated into a more formal, professional helping roles. 
 
During the course of this two-day workshop, ASIST participants will learn to:

• Understand the ways personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and intervention.

• •Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs

•  Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it

• Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large

• Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care

We offer ASIST in-person in Northeast Florida. Virtual trainings are not available for ASIST.

ASIST is provided in-person over 2 consecutive 8-hour days.

Note: ASIST is designed for audiences who are at least 16 years of age.

Talkable Communities is able to accommodate private in-person trainings in Northeast Florida.

Private trainings are subject to trainer availability. We do our best to accommodate all requests.

The hosting individual/organization will be required to provide 2-3  training rooms to accommodate all learners and with access to technology (Large TV w/HDMI cord or Projector with speakers).
